DAVIDO CROWNED BIGGEST NIGERIAN ARTIST BY HOT 97
IMG_E6524[1].JPG

HOT97 released a post via Instagram yesterday which stated Davido might be the biggest Nigerian artist at the moment, which is hard to disagree with considering the type of work he is putting in for the culture right now, alongside the walls he is knocking down he is also building bridges. The latest collaboration saw him team up with American rapper Russ in an unlikely match up which seemed to be received very well by both Afrobeats and Hip Hop fans.

As always with rivalry/competition there are fans with different views, when you mention Davido you know it isn’t long before Wizkid fans voice their opinion and our comments section was bombarded with Starboy fans disagreeing with the statement. Wizkid is definitely a world star in his own right and has maybe done a similar press run to what Davido is on now but that shouldn’t take away from the work Davido is currently putting in and considering the fact NEW music has been rare it isn’t unfair to say Davido is currently hotter, not better but just more active right now.

Davido stays shining…

Davido stays shining…

Anyway they’re both kings can’t we just celebrate the both of them?

Burna Boy took to Instagram last night to put out a very serious, heart felt message to other artists in the industry both established and up and coming. Now despite numerous fans trying to insinuate that he was referring to specific artists, it felt more like a warning for new artists in the game not to sign ‘international’ deals without establishing if it is in their best interest first. It was a post giving awareness to the current interest being shown to African music from companies, labels and other entities overseas.

Powerful message Burna Boy keep guiding us and shedding light on the industry for what it is.
